Your mission
The Head of Inside Sales is a dynamic leadership role focused on driving sales performance and operational excellence. This position involves managing and mentoring the inside sales team to foster a high-performance culture, analyzing sales data to uncover opportunities, and supporting field staff and CCO with actionable insights. Key responsibilities include overseeing the sales process, enhancing customer relationships, streamlining operations, and developing strategies to capitalize on market opportunities. The role also includes contributing to strategic decision-making, preparing sales reports, assisting with pricing and negotiations, and collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives to optimize results and drive business growth.

  • Manage and mentor the inside sales team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Analyze sales data, including quotes and orders, to uncover potential sales opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with field staff, providing them with insights and resources to enhance customer engagement and drive sales.
  • Support the team in maintaining strong relationships with existing customers and assist in resolving any issues to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the sales process, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness, and coordinate with purchasing, service, support, and logistics teams to streamline operations.
  • Keep current with the latest industry developments by attending training workshops, industry events and customer visits as necessary.
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement. 
  • Assist CCO with price calculation and negotiations for customers.
  • Promote and adhere to safety in the workplace. Instruct workers to follow safe work practices and enforce health and safety regulations. Promote safety awareness and ensure workers are trained or certified as required. Correct unsafe acts and conditions and ensure equipment is properly maintained. Report and investigate all accidents/incidents. Inspect own area and take remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards. Complete required training assignments, forms, and other paperwork.
  • Fully support ISO requirements and objectives.

  • Proven experience in inside sales management or a related leadership role. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and identify trends. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with team members and other departments. 
  • Committed to continuous education through workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  • Ability to inquire product knowledge and present multiple product lines across species.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team towards achieving sales targets and organizational goals.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.

Performance Objectives
  • Meet sales financial objectives by forecasting requirements and preparing annual budgets to be submitted to executive management.
  • Develop a well-trained staff that are able to perform all of the duties of this department.
  • Meet cost objectives for department operations.
  • Complete all required training and skill development requirements.
  • Meet performance objectives that may be established for the department.
  • Accomplish sales staff objectives by recruiting, selecting, training and coaching employees.
  • Achieve sales operational objectives by contributing sales information.
 
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, lift files, and operate a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust to focus.
  • This employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-30 pounds unassisted. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license without significant restrictions.
  • Able to utilize all methods of transportation including car, airplane, train, bus, etc. and travel internationally.
 
Work Environment
  • This role operates in a professional office environment with manufacturing and warehousing operations within the same facility. 
  • This role requires moving throughout the entire facility to work with other staff and to perform all the tasks of this position.
  • When traveling to customer facilities, it may be required to shower into the customer’s facility and wear customer supplied clothing (specific requirements vary and are determined by customer biosecurity policies).
  • This role will occasionally be subject to working in factory, laboratory, or farm conditions.
